In the Mood for Love

In the Mood for Love

It’s currently the height of wedding season - either you’re excitedly planning your own wedding, rushing around ordering bouquets and bridesmaids gifts, or you’re a guest dusting off your old wedding outfit ready to dance the night away. It’s a magical, beautiful time full of love and celebration. To mark this special occasion in the calendar, we thought we’d compile five of our favourite romance novels. It’s time to feel the love!

Pride and Prejudice - Jane Austen

It’s a classic, and arguably the most iconic romance novel of all time. Elizabeth Bennet and Fitzwilliam Darcy are at first prickly enemies, frustrated and unimpressed with one another. As attraction and common interests grow, their distaste eventually turns to love, in one of the beloved romance stories in history.

Seven Days in June - Tia Williams

This sensuous, witty romance takes place at the height of summer in New York City. Eva and Shane, two bestselling authors, unexpectedly meet at a literary event. Little does everyone know that both of them are instantly transported to one summer they had together as teenagers, where they were overwhelmingly and completely in love. However, a lot has changed since then!

Honey Girl - Morgan Rogers

Honey Girl is a romance we can all relate to - it centres around Grace Porter, a millennial struggling with the weight of the crumbling job market, her parents expectations and navigating life as a bi-racial lesbian. On one drunken night, she somehow ends up married to a woman she doesn’t know in Vegan, and what happens next could change her life forever…

Tuck Everlasting - Natalie Babbitt

A classic children’s tale, Babbitt’s tale looks at morality, fantasy and love in this gentle story musing on what would happen if we could live forever. Winnie Foster stumbles across the Tuck family, who can live forever after drinking from a magical stream. Jesse Tuck, the youngest son, is her touching first love.

Call Me By Your Name - Andre Aciman

Set in the Italian Riviera, this dreamy romance centres on two young men in 1983. Elio’s house is visited by the young scholar Oliver, and their slowly budding romance lasts only a summer, but goes on to touch and affect both their lives for the next twenty years.
